Before the event, you'll receive:
Video training material so you can practice and get a head start before the event... YES, Homework!
You'll receive this 2 weeks before the course and we suggest that you practice for 5 minutes every day to get a head start.
We don't usually allow last minute bookings for this event as you wouldn't have enough time to do the homework ;)The afternoon will include:
> The fundamental steps, footwork and handwork on which the dance depends.
> The tricks that will allow you to dance to different music speeds.
> A selection of basic moves which will allow you to build your own routine.
> Plenty of refreshment breaks and time to practice.
Tea and coffee are available, but please bring your own snacks and drinks.
You and your partner will also have to decide who's Leading and who's Following.
There's more information about this in the Partnered Dancing section of our Newcomers Guide.
After the event, you'll receive:
> Access to Video Training Package 1 from our Online Courses catalogue which will recap what we've covered in the Boot Camp.
> Additional website content exclusive to want2jive Class Members. -

Will I have to swap partners?
-
You and your partner can stay together and learn together!
We don't do rotations or bits of moves with different people, but we may occasionally give people the option to briefly swap for fun.
It's actually rather good fun, very useful and not at all daunting once you've done it the first time :) -

Please note that no-one in these pictures has
attended one of our classes... Yet ;)
